4-Day Sahara Desert Tour from Fes Itinerary
Leave Fes early and travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Visit the cedar forest near Azrou to see Barbary monkeys. Continue to Midelt for lunch. Drive through the beautiful Ziz Valley, dotted with palm trees and ancient villages. Arrive in Merzouga late afternoon. Enjoy a camel ride into the Sahara dunes of Erg Chebbi to watch the sunset. Overnight in a desert camp with a traditional dinner.
Watch the sunrise over the desert dunes and enjoy breakfast at the camp. Return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4. Visit the lively town of Rissani, famous for its traditional markets. Continue to Todra Gorge and take a walk through the stunning canyon. Drive on to the Dades Valley and overnight in a comfortable hotel or guesthouse.
After breakfast, we will drive back to Fes. We’ll stop in Rissani, an ancient market town known for its traditional souks (especially vibrant on market days). The journey continues through the scenic Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas Mountains, with a lunch stop in Midelt or Zaida. We expect to arrive in Fes by early evening.
Spend the morning exploring Marrakech’s highlights (optional). Drive back to Fes, with an optional stop in Casablanca to visit the Hassan II Mosque. Arrive in Fes by evening, completing the tour.
