5-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga

Come with us on a 5-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga. We’ll start by crossing the High Atlas Mountains, visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, and explore the old Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate. Then we’ll pass through Skoura’s palm groves and the scenic Dades Valley.

5-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to the Sahara Itinerary

Day 1

Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Dades ▼

We’ll pick you up from the airport or your accommodation at 8:00 AM and begin our journey through the High Atlas Mountains, enjoying the scenic drive with stops along the way.

Our first stop is Ouarzazate, famous for its film studios and desert views, where you can explore the historic Taourirt Kasbah. Then we’ll head to Skoura, known for its palm trees and ancient kasbahs like Ameridil.

We’ll end the day in Dades, home to dramatic gorges and unique rock formations, where we’ll spend the night.

Day 2

Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Sahara ▼

After breakfast, we’ll leave Dades and head to the amazing Todra Gorges, where you can walk between towering canyon walls and enjoy the stunning views.

Next, we’ll travel to Erfoud, a town famous for fossils and dates. It’s a great place to explore local shops and taste some fresh dates.

By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara. You’ll ride camels into the dunes to catch a beautiful sunset, then spend the night in a traditional desert camp with a Berber dinner and starry skies.

Day 3

Merzouga (Explore Erg Chebbi Desert) – Khamlia → M’fis → Desert & Nomads → Merzouga ▼

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara dunes—a peaceful and unforgettable moment worth capturing.

After breakfast, we’ll visit Khamlia, a village known for its Gnawa musicians and rich cultural heritage. Then, we’ll continue to M’fis, a small desert village where you can meet locals and learn about life in the desert.

We’ll also visit a nomad family living in the Sahara. You’ll share tea with them and hear stories about their unique lifestyle. In the late afternoon, we return to Merzouga to relax and enjoy the calm desert surroundings.

Day 4

Merzouga – Rissani – Agdz – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate ▼

We’ll leave Merzouga and stop in Rissani, a historic town known for its bustling markets and royal heritage. Take some time to explore and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

Then we’ll drive through the scenic Draa Valley, with its green palm groves and desert views. It’s a beautiful change of landscape.

We’ll continue to Ouarzazate, where we’ll spend the night and rest for the next day.

Day 5

Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech ▼

On our last day, we’ll stop at the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a historic village known for its unique architecture. You’ll have time to walk through its narrow paths and discover its rich past.

After the visit, we’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains once more, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way, and arrive back in Marrakech by evening.
